What we collect
In normal browsing, nothing. The site doesn't run Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Hotjar, Segment, or any equivalent. No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting scripts, no behaviour cookies. You can verify this by opening your browser's network inspector — there are no third-party tracker requests.
The two places where we do collect data are entirely opt-in:
- Contact form. When you submit the form on our contact page, we receive the name, email, company (optional), budget tier (optional), and the message you wrote. That's it. We use it to reply to you.
- Newsletter / Field Notes. If you email us asking to be added to the manual list, we store your email address in a flat file so we can send you new posts when we publish them. No third-party mailing service. One email a month, maximum.
What our hosting provider sees
The site is hosted by DreamHost, a US-based provider. Their web-server logs record standard HTTP information for every request: IP address, requested URL, user agent, timestamp, response status. These logs exist for security and operational reasons (rate limiting, attack detection) and are typical of every website on the internet. We don't aggregate, analyse, or share these logs.
Cookies
We don't set any cookies of our own. The browser may set a session cookie if you submit the contact form (a one-time anti-spam token); it expires when you close the tab. No persistent cookies. No tracking cookies. No advertising cookies.
Third-party content
We load two third-party assets on every page:
- Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com, fonts.gstatic.com) — the Instrument Serif and JetBrains Mono fonts come from Google's CDN. Google may log the IP address that requested the font file; that's outside our control. If this matters to you, browser extensions like uBlock Origin will block it without breaking the site.
- Outbound links to vendor sites (e.g. claude.com, runway.com, openai.com) — when you click through to a tool we've reviewed, the destination site sees a referer header. That's standard web behaviour, not a tracker we placed.
What we don't do
- No analytics of any kind.
- No A/B testing, no behavioural retargeting.
- No selling or sharing email addresses.
- No automatic mailing lists. If you give us an email, you'll know exactly what we'll do with it.
- No dark patterns. The contact form has the fields you'd expect; the newsletter is opt-in via clicking a button or sending us an email.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Show you any data we hold about you.
- Delete any data we hold about you.
- Correct any data we hold that's wrong.
- Stop emailing you if you're on the manual list (instant — just reply or email us).
Email hello@pintoedai.com and we'll handle the request within a business day. We don't have a long process for this — there isn't much data to deal with.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material, we'll update the effective date at the top of this page. We'll never reduce your rights without telling you up front.
